Hourly billing rewards slow work. A fixed price makes both sides decide what the project is before it starts.
We stopped billing by the hour in 2019. The work did not change. The conversations did.
The scope gets written down
A fixed price forces a list: these pages, these features, this date. If something is missing we find out in week zero, not week five.
Changes get a date, not an argument
New ideas still arrive halfway through. They get a price and a new date, or they go on the list for after launch. Nobody is surprised by an invoice.
The price on the proposal is the price on the invoice. That one sentence wins us more work than our portfolio does.
